Mike “Beard Guy” Taylor Memorial Tribute Concert January 13, 2019
On Sunday, Burlington, ON hosted a Memorial Tribute Concert for Mike ‘Beard Guy’ Taylor, keyboardist and vocalist of Walk Off The Earth. He sadly passed away unexpectedly on December 29th, 2018.
Hundreds of people gathered in Civic Square to honour his memory with his bandmates, friends and family. Brant street and nearby roads were shut down to accommodate the large crowd and Kelly’s Bake Shoppe, located right across the street, generously served free coffee and hot chocolate for all attendees, keeping everyone warm in the cold weather.
Members of Walk Off The Earth receive Taylor’s hockey jersey. They retired the number in honour of Taylor’s memory.

It was an emotional evening. At times you could hear people in the crowd sniffling their tears back. Especially during the incredible video tribute their videographer created in honour of such a talented and inspirational man.
For anyone wondering, I did not have a formal photo pass for the event but it was free and in a public space and I knew it was something I didn’t want to miss. I drove an hour from Toronto to attend and hope to capture some of the special moments and love throughout the evening. I brought my 70-200 2.8 to get close to the stage and 14-24 2.8 to attempt to capture all the people who attended.
