Old Cameras & a new toy!

I was mentioning to my friend Patrick that I wanted to do more product photography and he suggested the new Foldio 2.

If you haven’t heard about it, it’s pretty sweet and only costs about $100 at Henry’s. The Foldio is a portable studio for product or even food photography. It comes with two dimmable LED strips, power supply with different universal adapters, three backgrounds and a foldable light box!

Everything comes disassembled but it’s very easy to set up. The Foldio has built in magnets to keep its shape when open and even has a magnet that holds your background in place. The only downside to the ones provided is that they crease easily but you could easily make your own out of fabric.

The LED’s attach to the Foldio using an adhesive strip. They suggest putting them on the front panel which I found a bit limiting so instead I used butterfly clips to hold the LED strips where I wanted them. Placing sometimes below and on either side my subjects.

I couldn’t wait to set it up so I grabbed a few of my favourites from my old camera collection and had some fun!

My favourite right now is probably the Kodak EK6, it’s actually loaded with film but the batteries have leaked inside and I can’t get them out but I won’t give up!

The funny thing is most of these were found at yard sales for maybe $5 but I like them cause they’re all a little quirky.

I’m pretty happy with the results and I can’t wait to try it out on other items!
